Rest in Peace, Troy Davis

Troy Anthony Davis was executed by the state of Georgia at 11:00pm September 21, 2011.

Final letter from Troy Davis:

To All:
I want to thank all of you for your efforts and dedication to Human Rights and Human Kindness, in the past year. I have experienced such emotion, joy, sadness and never ending faith. It is because of all of you that I am alive today, as I look at my sister Martina I am marveled by the love she has for me and of course I worry about her and her health, but as she tells me she is the eldest and she will not back down from this fight to save my life and prove to the world that I am innocent of this terrible crime.
As I look at my mail from across the globe, from places I have never ever dreamed I would know about and people speaking languages and expressing cultures and religions I could only hope to one day see first hand. I am humbled by the emotion that fills my heart with overwhelming, overflowing Joy. I can’t even explain the insurgence of emotion I feel when I try to express the strength I draw from you all, it compounds my faith and it shows me yet again that this is not a case about the death penalty, this is not a case about Troy Davis, this is a case about Justice and the Human Spirit to see Justice prevail.
I cannot answer all of your letters but I do read them all, I cannot see you all but I can imagine your faces, I cannot hear you speak but your letters take me to the far reaches of the world, I cannot touch you physically but I feel your warmth everyday I exist.
So Thank you and remember I am in a place where execution can only destroy your physical form but because of my faith in God, my family and all of you I have been spiritually free for some time and no matter what happens in the days, weeks to come, this Movement to end the death penalty, to seek true justice, to expose a system that fails to protect the innocent must be accelerated. There are so many more Troy Davis’. This fight to end the death penalty is not won or lost through me but through our strength to move forward and save every innocent person in captivity around the globe. We need to dismantle this Unjust system city by city, state by state and country by country.
I can’t wait to Stand with you, no matter if that is in physical or spiritual form, I will one day be announcing,
“I AM TROY DAVIS, and I AM FREE!”
Never Stop Fighting for Justice and We will Win!

abolute joy is...

...realizing you already have everything you need.
The greatest joy is doing what you love
and believing that's enough.

Grandpa Green

I love Lane Smith. Did you read It's A Book by Lane Smith? It is wonderful and had a hilarious twist at the end... jackass :)
Lane Smith's new book Grandpa Green is also bold and endearing. Beautiful & clever, this book will delight adults as they read it to those who are still growing.
Absolutely lovely...

Midnight in Paris

On the plane I watched Midnight in Paris... again.
It reminded me how much I like F. Scott Fitzgerald.

"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

– F. Scott Fitzgerald

a perfect question...

"Have you been blessed with the knowledge and the wisdom to recognize your role in this world and create the opportunity for your beauty and your energy to touch others as you pass gently through their world?"
~ Crystal Street

Whose path will you cross today and what energy will you share? What ripple effect will that have?

Examine your work and your presence in the world and look for the positive influence you've had.

How does what you do influence those around you?

As Gandhi would say, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."  Emulate the beauty you wish to see ... Be the peace, be the compassion you long to see in the world.

Whatever your platform, you have the ability to touch others.

restraint you must choose

National Day of Catalonia

support peace

Support peace and dignity for all humanity.

peace is every step

"Peace must first be developed within an individual.
And I believe that love, compassion, and altruism
are the fundamental basis for peace.
Once these qualities are developed within an individual,
he or she is then able to create
an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
This atmosphere can be expanded and extended
from the individual to his family,
from the family to the community
and eventually to the whole world."

(Foreward, H.H. The Dalai Lama, page v.)

for September 11th

from Macys...

Hug your children
Spend the day with family
Think of an old friend
Wave to your neighbor
Go for a long walk
Light A Candle
Share your thoughts
Take a moment for yourself
Be there for someone else
Watch the sunset
Look forward to sunrise

your time

"Your time is limited,
so don't waste it living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma,
which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important,
have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become."
- Steve Jobs
