perfect sweetness

It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance
On May 25th, on what would have been Ralph Waldo Emerson's 208th birthday, Seth Godin's Domino Project produced a contemporary re-imagining of Emerson's most famous essay, Self-Reliance. I downloaded a free copy from Ibex the outdoor company (who offered it free for one day) and just began reading it today.
Trust your intuition rather than conform to the will of the majority. Define your own sense of accomplishment and measure yourself against your own standards, not those of society.
Emerson's words are timeless.
This re-imagined classic is a fantastic reminder that, just like in 1841, life is what you make of it.
